How to set a wallpaper on OnePlus, OPPO and realme

Set a downloaded wallpaper on OxygenOS, ColorOS or realme UI from Photos or the Home screen.

OnePlus, OPPO and realme phones are built on the same base. OnePlus calls it OxygenOS, OPPO calls it ColorOS, and realme calls it realme UI, but the gallery and wallpaper screens are almost the same. The steps below work on all three, and were checked on OxygenOS and ColorOS 15.

1. Download the wallpaper

  1. Open the wallpaper and tap Download HD, or Download 4K if it has one.
  2. Wait for the countdown and tap Download now.
  3. Your browser saves it to the Download folder.

2. Set it from Photos

The gallery app is called Photos on most of these phones (and Gallery on some older ones).

  1. Open Photos and tap Collections or Albums.
  2. Open the Download album. The newest file is first.
  3. Tap the wallpaper to open it.
  4. Tap the three dots (⋮), usually at the bottom right.
  5. Tap Set as wallpaper.
  6. Drag and pinch to frame it.
  7. Tap Set and choose Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screens.

Or start from the Home screen

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home screen.
  2. Tap Wallpapers.
  3. Tap Photos or Albums, and pick the wallpaper.
  4. Frame it, tap Set, and choose where it goes.

Filters and effects

Recent versions can add effects when you set a wallpaper, such as a blur or a frosted glass look. They are handy for the Home screen, where a softer picture makes app names easier to read. The effect only changes how the wallpaper looks on the phone, not the file itself.

Stop the lock screen changing by itself

Some phones, especially OPPO and realme, show a rotating lock screen feed. It may be called Lock screen magazine, Glance or Wallpaper carousel. It replaces your wallpaper with new pictures. To keep yours:

  1. Open Settings and search for lock screen, magazine or carousel.
  2. Turn the feed off.
  3. Set your wallpaper again.

If something goes wrong

  • There is no Download album. Open the Files or File Manager app, go to Downloads, and open the image. The three dots menu there also has Set as wallpaper.
